Our Story

Hi, My Name Is Tracy Ginger, founder of Tracy Gingers Dog Rescue and Sanctuary. I began my rescue journey in 2016 after moving from Toronto Canada to the island of Ambergris Caye, San Pedro Belize.

and immediately involved myself with the local humane society Saga. I made homemade pierogies and would sell them at the local farmers market donating $1 to Saga from each dozen I sold.

In October 2017 I became more involved in Saga and accepted the position of Vice President.  I had already been Fostering and rescuing dogs but wanted to be more involved.

During my VP position, I met so many caring and generous people,  specifically one expat couple residing in Belize donated a very generous donation allowing over 20 dogs to fly to their furever homes, and extra funds to rebuild Saga. The following year I decided to resign and start rescuing and fostering solely on my own. I currently have 8 of my own dogs which started out as rescues.

In September 2019 I moved to Progreso Yucatán Mexico, where I reside now, and rent a house on a 1.5-acre piece of land across the street from the beach. The property had so much potential which made it possible to build my Dog Rescue and Sanctuary Safe Haven.

My Sanctuary fosters sick, weak, emaciated dogs, special attention needs dogs, we care we heal we adopt out. My rescue sanctuary is completely funded by myself selling food at the farmers market and any donations that I receive are put towards veterinarian costs, FOOD, kennels, medication, tick and flea prevention, spay and neutering, maintenance of the sanctuary, including fencing and dog houses and so much more.

I am thankful to everyone for their support and the efforts to help rescue these beautiful animals.

Sunny has been in our sanctuary for 3 months and is now healthy, strong, and ready for adoption. Sunny has been de-wormed and has had her immunizations and will be spay shortly. Sunny is gentle, loves human touch and cuddles, other dogs, kids, cats and all humans. Please consider adopting Sunny and give her a furever home.

Success Story Of the Month

A true success story, meet Mimi, found at a local gas station in Progreso Yucatan Mexico, with her 3 baby pups emaciated with a broken hip, hobbling on 3 legs starving to death trying to keep her babies alive. Mimi was rescued by my son and myself along with her 3 puppies.  Mimi was adopted instantly upon our post and has since has surgery and now lives in her furever home happily  ever after.

Projects

Gravity Feeders

One of our current projects id building gravity feeders for the sanctuary. Once completed we are also going to submit a proposal to the local governing body to put them up in the local area so people can fill them and fed the local stray dog population.

Dog Houses

To protect our rescues from the elements we are building multiple types of shelters for them.
